Hollywood + Bollywood = no piracy?

Bollywood piracy

Hollywood and Bollywood are joining hands to stop piracy. A study by Ernst & Young India has showed Bollywood is losing $4 billion and 800,000 jobs a year because of piracy and both are now determined to stop illegal copying.

“The first step is supporting India’s adoption of sensible legislation which regulates the production of optical discs,” said Greg Kalbaugh, director and counsel at US India Business Council. “The Hollywood-Bollywood Initiative has really touched a nerve, and companies in the US and India are lining up to offer their support,” he said.

It’s a nice initiative, but do we really believe this will have an effect? If Hollywood could’ve stopped the piracy, they would already have. It’s something they can’t control. They don’t have enough money to buy the internet. I wonder how much money actually went into trying to stop piracy.
