The company that did ‘American Idol’ is ready to start shooting a Adolf Hitler farce. The black comedy called “Mein Kampf” is set in a Vienna hostel before World War One and starts shooting there as well this week — Vienna that is, not World War One. The story is about Hitler getting friendly with an elderly Jew who gives him his hairdo and famous mustache.
Is anybody into this? The idea doesn’t sound fun to me. Or is anybody expecting ‘The Great Dictator’ part 2?
The movie is planned to be released in Germany next year.

Disney is launching a nature film label, originally called Disneynature. “Our goal is to bring event films, as only nature can tell,” Dick Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, said. Trying to release one green picture a year, the label will be run by Jean-Francois Camilleri, also responsible for the box office hit ‘March of the Penguins.’
The first movie will be called ‘Earth’ and will be released on Earth Day April 22, 2009. Other projects are ‘Chimpanzee’ and ‘Big Cats,’ both filmed in Africa.

If you read our recent article about the summer movie budgets, you know ‘Iron Man’ will at least have to make $186 million to cover its production costs. Add the marketing, distribution, etc. and you are in need of a pretty good opening weekend.
Paramount is confident though. They just revised their opening estimates upwards to $60-$70 million. I’m not sure if they’ll make that number, but I think it’s safe to say ‘Iron Man’ will at least make back the $186 million in its lifetime. It doesn’t feel like a hit, but I don’t think it’ll be lost in this crowded summer either.
