Del Toro confirmed for ‘The Hobbit’

Del Toro Hobbit Yay

There it is, the announcement we were waiting for. I guess Guillermo Del Toro currently has to let his work on ‘Saturn and the End of Days‘ rest, because he will move to New Zealand for the next 4 years (!) to work back to back on the two Hobbit movies.

The news came from executive producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, who won’t be making the film because of the Wingnut Films (Jackson’s production company) lawsuit against New Line Cinema.

New Line is producing the fantasy and the movies are co-produced and co-financed by New Line Cinema and MGM.

‘Austin Powers 4′ only in Gisele’s mind

April 24th, 2008 at 5:10 pm

Gisele Brundchen Austin Powers 4

Apparently, when Gisele Bündchen was talking about her appearance in ‘Austin Powers 4,’ it was just some wishful thinking. Boston.com ran an article on how she’d already gotten the script and her agent met with Mike Myers and director Jay Roach.

All bs, Seth Green says. “Gisele…the model??” he (almost) screamed. “If a script for ‘Austin Powers 4’ gets written and then it gets greenlit by whatever version of New Line is still making movies, and everybody agrees to do it, then we’ll have something to talk about.”

There have been rumors about ‘Austin Powers 4′ since the day part 3 got made. Mike Myers has talked about it on and off at press conferences, but nothing official came out of it. Now all hope gets squashed again, thanks Gisele!

‘Juno’ beats Chipmunks and Blood

April 24th, 2008 at 2:45 pm

Juno Smile Chipmunks Sad

After a surprising box office success, ‘Juno’ is generating some heat in the DVD stores too. Getting in at the top spot, it beat last week’s ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ in the sales department. Alvin slipped to number three, with ‘Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem’ coming in second.

But the pregnant girl didn’t stop there. ‘There will be Blood,’ which came in first last week, lost its top stop to ‘Juno’ too. ‘There will be Blood’ went on to make more in rentals than it did at the box office. It made the third place with $15.6 million in rentals in two weeks, followed by ‘Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem’ with $7.7 million. ‘Juno’ managed to top that, with just $8.4 million.
