Weekly roundup

Baby Mama: $12,613,110 ($30 million budget, second week)

Weekly roundup graph

A little later because of our server outage, but here’s the weekly roundup for the first week of ‘Iron Man.’

As expected ‘Harold & Kumar 2′ didn’t make the top 3 in its second week, but ‘Baby Mama’ hold up nicely with another $12.6 million in its second week. That’s 42% of its budget and makes to total go well above the $30 million budget.

Obviously, ‘Iron Man’ was the big winner. But surprisingly, while numbers for ‘Made of Honor’ and ‘Baby Mama’ went up, ‘Iron Man’ only went down from Saturday. It ended with a $5.3 million Thursday. Still good, but after the almost 80% post-weekend drop it’s still going down. I fully expect it to beat ‘Speed Racer’ this weekend, but I wouldn’t expect it to stick around for more than two more weekends after that.

‘Made of Honor’ was the biggest loser, with only $18.6 million compared to its $40 million budget. That’s not even half of its budget and with ‘What happens in Vegas’ coming in this weekend, it’s not looking to make enough to cover its budget with its US box office gross. ‘Made of Honor’ picked up a little during the week however, so it might stick around in the top 10 for a couple more weeks.

This week, the first big box office battle is starting between ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Speed Racer,’ although as we know, nobody is expecting much of ‘Speed Racer’ these days.
