Ppost-weekend drop

We’re back with the ‘post-weekend drop,’ where we look at the box office drop after the weekend and get an idea of what’s to come. This time we have some interesting differences, so let’s jump into the numbers right away!

1. What Happens in Vegas
Saturday and Sunday: $13,001,340 million
Monday and Tuesday: $3,348,193 million
Drop: 74%

2. Iron Man
Saturday and Sunday: $21,374,629 million
Monday and Tuesday: $14,942,808 million
Drop: 80%

3. Speed Racer
Saturday and Sunday: $12,369,110 million
Monday and Tuesday: $1,986,617 million
Drop: 84%

The numbers speak for itself. We’ve heard Warner say several times how they think their ‘Speed Racer’ will pick up or keep doing decent numbers during the summer, but we all know it’s not going to happen. With an awful drop of 84%, you can safely say this movie is on its way out. Sorry Bros.

‘Iron Man’ had another fairly big drop of 80%, a little steeper than last week’s 79%. The time of amazing numbers are over for the superhero and I’d guess it will hang in until ‘Indiana Jones’ comes in to take away its audience entirely.

The big winner in the drop department surprisingly was ‘What Happens in Vegas.’ It wasn’t as small as the 71.7% drop we saw by the Judd Apatow comedy ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ but a 74% drop is nothing to be ashamed of. It shows how Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher have some staying power and will likely have another good weekend to come.
