Another interesting week. Sadly, ‘Sex and the City’ will be leaving the top 3 this week, but it’s still going strong. As we saw in our ‘post-weekend drops,’ the Manhattan girls hold up well during the weeks. But with two new movies and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ it will likely be pushed to the fourth place, beating the new ‘Zohan’ with Adam Sandler.

‘You Don’t Mess with the Zohan’ is dropping much faster and almost fell to the third place yesterday. The comedy seems very front-loaded, even Saturday couldn’t top Friday in tickets. Going by the reported budget of $90 million, the movie grossed 58% of its budget in the first week. Decent, but ‘Kung Fu Panda’ made 64% of its $130 million budget and grossed about $30 million more during the week. With ‘The Incredible Hulk’ taking much of Zohan’s target audience, I don’t see it staying around for long after this weekend.

‘Kung Fu Panda’ did well, not great. It sank a little more than the usual number one, from $6.3 mill Monday to $5.4 mill Thursday, but I expect it to pick up during the weekend. Except for ‘Indiana Jones 4,’ which the whole country already saw, it’s the only family friendly movie around. Also, it still needs $50 million to even top its budget.

Next week we’ll see how ‘The Happening’ will tank and how ‘The Incredible Hulk’ can’t beat ‘Iron Man,’ maybe..
