What do you get when two of the best paid directors jointly create a movie? ‘Tintin 3′ apparently, because Steven Spielberg said it’s likely he’ll direct the third ‘Tintin’ movie together with Peter Jackson. “We are going to make three Tintin movies back-to-back. I’ll direct the first one, Peter will direct the second one. We’ll probably co-direct the third one,” Spielberg said at Cannes.
A promising statement to say the least. It sounds like this is going to be one of the major franchises the coming years. Andy Serkis has already signed for the movies, which will start shooting in September.

 | | After finishing his $75 million ‘Red Cliff’ this year, John Woo will go back in time and direct ‘1949.’ It will be a $40 Chinese romance taking place at the end of WWII. John Woo, who made it big with ‘A Better Tomorrow’ and directed box office hits like ‘Face/Off’ and ‘Mission: Impossible II,’ will begin shooting at the end of this year in China and Taiwan.
The script is written by Wang Hui-ling, who also wrote last year’s ‘Lust, Caution’ and fantasy hit ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ for Ang Lee.

‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ isn’t even out yet, but George Lucas is already hinting at a possible fifth movie in the series. “I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this, but I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out,” Lucas said.
“And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me.” That’s stretching it George. But with the new ‘Indiana Jones’ movie’s tracking numbers indicating a record breaking opening, another movie is a given.
