 | | Who would’ve thought the low-budget ‘The Strangers,’ with its $9 million budget, would gross $40 million within two weeks? When an independent studio makes this kind of money, talks about a sequel soon emerge. And Bloody-Disgusting has ‘100% confirmed’ these talks have begun.
‘The Strangers 2′ is being talked about, but I’m not sure if they can repeat the success. Can such a sequel ever? I don’t even know where the buzz for the first movie came from.
Did people really anticipate it or was it just timing, when the audience wanted something different than the all blockbusters currently around? We’ll see I guess.

Hayden Christensen has pretty much confirmed a ‘Jumper’ sequel. “It was set up to become that — a trilogy — if it did well,” Christensen said. “And I think they’re happy with how it did so they want to make another one.“
While ‘Jumper’ wasn’t a big success in the US, the $85 million movie made $221 million worldwide, of which $80 in the US alone. Including marketing, this Doug Liman movie must have been profitable. But the question is how profitable?
They’re definitely thinking about a sequel though. “We’re talking about it,” Christensen said. “I know that they’re having those conversations, I hear about them.” And when asked if he would do the sequel he added, “Oh yeah, and I think I probably will.“
It sounds like the contract can fall on his doorstep any day now.

 | | Except for his off the beat ‘Punch-Drunk Love,’ Adam Sandler has been 100% comedy. But that’s about to change. His production company Happy Madison is taking on a thriller named ‘Shortcut.’ A story about two guys who find a scary shortcut in their town nobody was using before. And why would that be?
Nicholaus Goossen, who also made the lightweight ‘Grandma’s Boy’ for Happy Madison, will direct the thriller. And the movie already has a SAG waiver for the possible strike next month, since production will start in a couple of weeks.
‘You Don’t Mess With the Zohan,’ which is releasing today, also comes from Sandler’s busy production house.
