New photos: ‘The Promotion’

Normally these two wouldn’t be leading, but ‘The Promotion’ features John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott in a, as Davis mentions, not that well promoted comedy. The low-budget movie is seeing a limited release this weekend and reviews are mixed. It seems like one of those love it or hate it movies.

Reelviews gave a 7.5 and said, “There are enough laughs to justify it being labeled as a comedy but a stronger storyline than one normally associates with this kind of film. It’s an enjoyable diversion amidst the big guns of summer.

While the 3.0 review at The Hollywood Reporter mentions how it’s one “of the unfunniest comedies ever. Punch lines are lifeless. Characters are borderline catatonic. Running gags can’t even walk.

Actors: Willem Dafoe takes vampire role

Willem Dafoe Vampire

Willem Dafoe signed for the big-budget adaptation of the kid-lit fantasy ‘Cirque du Freak.’ Dafoe joins Salma Hayek and John C. Reilly at the set of Paul Weitz, who also directed ‘American Pie’ and ‘About a Boy.’

The story revolves around a boy named Darren, who meets a strange man at a freak show. The man turns out to be a vampire and Darren has to go on the road with him and Cirque du Freak to save his friend’s life. Of course, there’s no going wrong by casting Willem Dafoe as a vampire. Although the above picture is photoshopped (as always), he played a blood thirsty creature two times before.

The movie already started shooting in Louisiana and is expected to hit theaters February 19, 2009.
