The Daily Movie News pilot
September 29th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

The first episode of The Daily Movie News is finally online. The first of many. It took a little longer than expected (lots of work for just 5 mins of footage), but it’ll get faster, I’m sure.

If everything works, you can see a flash movie above this blog with the first video. I hope you’ll enjoy it and be back tomorrow for more. I’m planning to add a small writeup with every show, but I might skip this one. Maybe if I’m up early tomorrow. Party party!

Later,

Microsoft supporting filmmakers and Vista

Microsoft Movie

In a (desperate?) attempt to create some buzz for their Vista Ultimate operating system, Microsoft is holding a ‘Ultimate Video Relay’ contest on ultimatevideorelay.com. It challenges amateur filmmakers to create the second act of their movie about a black box, which director Kyle Newman started.

All fine by me, if you can win some ‘ultimate’ prices. But for just a laptop, camera or software package, you won’t get me all hot to start making movies. Yes, it might be an expensive laptop, but just a laptop nonetheless.

Two new projects for Kevin Spacey
April 29th, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Kevin Spacey Twice

Trigger Street Productions, the company owned by Kevin Spacey, is getting ready to do two new projects. Together with 2929 Productions they will produce two new movies with the team behind ‘21.’ The $35 million ‘21′ has been a moderate success, with $75 million in the US and over $100 million worldwide.

The pictures will be based on two books by Ben Mezrich, a both fiction and nonfiction writer. The first one, ‘Ugly Americans,’ is about the nonfictional story of a business man who takes an investment job in Hong Kong. His boss turns out to be in the mafia and soon he will find himself getting into the same situation.

The second, ‘Q,’ is based on the currently unpublished book about an epidemic breakout. The book will be out this fall and focuses on the quarantine laws.
