Actor Laurence Fishburne will direct his second feature called ‘The Alchemist’ next summer. The $60 million project is based on the book by Paulo Coelho, which sold over 65 million copies in 150 territories. Harvey Weinstein’s Weinstein Co. picked up all the rights earlier this year, while the movie had been in development at Warner Bros. for years.

“This is one of those great turnaround situations. The book means so much to people on a spiritual level, and there is an exciting love story, action,” Weinstein said.
