‘The Incredible Hulk’ is not ‘The Hulk’May 27th, 2008 at 2:59 pm

We know Marvel is trying all it can to disconnect ‘The Incredible Hulk’ from the Ang Lee’s movie in 2003 – or should I say flop? But not only the marketing department is busy with distinguishing the new movie from ‘The Hulk,’ the creators are also pressuring the fact their movie is a totally fresh and original experience. Latino Review caught up with the director and producers of the new movie.
Director Louis Leterrier said, “I respect Ang’s movie tremendously and I love Ang’s movie. I just didn’t want to do the same thing. […] we have to all try together to make people understand that this is really not the sequel to the first movie, but it’s not a reboot of the first movie where you do the same thing.”

Marvel certainly isn’t tight-lippedMay 23rd, 2008 at 11:46 am

Every other day Marvel gives out some facts about their future plans. Do they still have to learn or do they just not care. They own the rights to every comic book figure anyway, so who should they fear? Marvel Vice Chairman Peter Cuneo spoke about Marvel’s future ideas at the Wedbush Morgan Securities Conference.
He says ‘Iron Man’ showed them how they don’t have to use high-profile characters to make a big hit. “Iron Man shows that we can take our lesser known characters, reach into the storyline of our comic books and make them into valuable, really, “brands” for us. Each of these characters becomes a brand that we can market.“

‘Spider-man 4′ “issues with the cast and so on”?May 22nd, 2008 at 7:55 pm

After the enormous box office success of ‘Spider-Man 3,’ you would expect Sony Pictures to be all over part 4. But while Sony paid Marvel to renew the rights, there’s an unpleasantly low amount of news on the picture. Marvel Vice Chairman Peter Cuneo says it’s all up to Sony. They’ll have nothing to do with the movie, since the series started before Marvel went on to produce its own movies.
Coneo said the “most likely scenario is 2010 or 2011 but we can’t speak for them and I think that we don’t know. They have given us their re-up payment for that film so you know they’re going to make it within a reasonable timeframe. Sony may be looking at some issues with the cast and so on, I think they have to make some decisions.“
You can tell he isn’t giving out all his facts. Is Sam Raimi really not going to direct ‘Spider-Man 4′? Is Tobey Maguire sick of playing Spidey? It can’t be the money. The last movie made $890 million worldwide, so Sony has enough to pay these guys a decent salary. But I’d say Jason Biggs makes for a good new nerdy Peter Parker. Just to freshen up the series a bit.
