Spike Lee will be working on a Micheal Jordan documentary, he said at Cannes. The NBA will finance the feature, which Lee hopes will be released next year. There’s no question about Jordan being the most famous basketball player to base a picture on. And as expected, he won’t mind walking the red carpet. “Mike wants to come to Cannes, so hopefully we will be here next year,” Spike Lee said.

The NBA will give Lee access to hours of unreleased footage filmed during the last two years of Jordan’s career, from 2001 to 2003. I reckon this is why they opted for a documentary, instead of a biopic about the basketball legend. But first, Spike Lee has to get his $43 million WWII drama “Miracle at St. Anna” out there, which will release in the US on October 10.
