‘Indiana Jones 4′ does well at overseas box officeMay 25th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ is not only doing good numbers domestically, it’s doing even better outside the U.S. Dr. Henry Jones made an estimated $143 million internationally. Added to the $126 million reported in the U.S., the adventurer has already made $269 million worldwide. Something for which you can take your hat off, I’d say. It is the sixth best international opening of all time. Here is the are the numbers for the international top 5 during the four day period:
United Kingdom: $21.5 million
Germany: $12.6 million
Spain: $11.7 million
South Korea: $10 million
Australia: $9 million
I initially doubted Indy’s box office power and buzz, but the numbers prove he can still do it. The $143 million was taken from 12,000 screens in more than 8,300 locations and 56 markets. Another well deployed distribution by Paramount Pictures International, after last month’s ‘Iron Man.’
First ‘Indiana Jones 4′ numbers: $2.2 millionMay 22nd, 2008 at 1:26 pm
 | | Yesterday we saw how ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ was releasing early in some territories and now the first ticket sales have been counted. Paramount said Steven Spielberg’s baby made $2.2 in just one day in France. If we compare these numbers to the other Paramount blockbuster, we see ‘Iron Man’ made $7 million in the first 5 days in France, including the whole weekend. Indy can easily beat this.
Fueled by the positive Cannes hype, Indy sold 240,000 tickets. In Belgium, another country where the movies open at Wednesday, the picture made $250,000. We might see some early US numbers soon. A lot of theaters were sold out of tickets for their early midnight shows yesterday.

‘Iron Man’ still number 1 overseasMay 19th, 2008 at 10:00 am
 | | Since Disney didn’t release ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’ worldwide last weekend, ‘Iron Man’ stayed on top for another week. The speedy superhero made $25.6 million at over 5,000 screens, followed by ‘Prince Caspian’ with $20.7 million at about 2,000 screens. This translates in $5,120 per screen for ‘Iron Man,’ compared to $10,350 per screen for ‘Prince Caspian.’
Solid third was ‘What Happens in Vegas’ with another $20 million overseas. And as expected, ‘Speed Racer’ plunged to just $7 million at 4,700 screens.
‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’ will be opening in overseas territories during the whole summer.
