Maybe you didn’t notice, but he just looked at you. Takashi Miike is not described as the fastest guy in Asian cinema for nothing. IMDB shows he has made a whopping 76 movies in just 18 years.
Miike will direct the sequel to his ‘Crows Zero,’ which has been out of the theaters for just a couple of months and didn’t even hit western theaters yet. The (not surprisingly) yakuza movie made over $24 million at the Japanese box office last year and the sequel has been green lit to begin production in July. Shun Oguri has also been signed again to star in ‘Crows Zero 2.’
Takashi Miike got his cult following outside Japan because of his gory ‘Ichi the Killer’ and ‘Audition.’ Some of his movies did better overseas than in Japan alone.
‘Crows Zero’ got picked up for a US release by Media Blasters last year, but no date has been set.
