Disney Dollar

Walt Disney Co. managed to make a little more Disney dollars than expected, with a 21% jump in the second quarter. Net income rose to $1.13 billion, compared to $931 million in the same period last year.

DVD releases of ‘Enchanted,’ ‘Game Plan’ and ‘No Country For Old Men’ helped to increase DVD sales with 15%. You didn’t know Disney was responsible for such a gruesome picture, did you?

Other than the DVD income, the Disney theme parks did some good numbers as well. “I think we’re six to nine months into this recession and it looks like their bookings have not suffered,” Laura Martin of Soleil/Media Metrics said. Sales for this division climbed 11% to $2.72 billion.

No, the entertainment industry isn’t ready to give in on that recession just yet.
