‘Indiana Jones 4′ can’t beat ‘Sex’ overseasJune 9th, 2008 at 4:37 am

It’s the ultimate box office battle. The special effects male type driven ‘Indiana Jones 4′ against the pink chick flick ‘Sex and the City.’ Last weekend ‘Sex’ won, but this weekend Indy managed to beat ‘Sex and the City’ in the US. Internationally? Not so much. As in the US this weekend, it was a close call. ‘Sex’ grossed an estimated $38.1 million, while ‘Indiana Jones’ couldn’t get past $36 mill. But remember, ‘Sex and the City’ has yet to launch in some territories. Sex’ box office result came from 25 territories, while Indy’s came from 60.

Lars and Real Girl reteam for Buyers ClubJune 5th, 2008 at 7:25 pm

Director Craig Gillespie and ‘Fracture’ star Ryan Gosling are getting back together to make ‘The Dallas Buyers Club.’ They previously worked on ‘Lars and the Real Girl,’ a quirky drama with mixed reactions.
The new script sounds promising though. It’s the real life story of Ron Woodroof, who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and was told he had another 6 months to live. Not willing to give up just yet, he smuggled in alternative drugs. Not only for himself, but also for other patients. In the end, Woodroof lived another 6 years instead of months.
The project has been in the works at Universal for several years. At one point, Brad Pitt was about to star with Marc Forster, who is currently busy with ‘Quantum of Solace,’ directing. Naturally, producer David Bushell can’t wait to start production. “This is about one man’s enduring spirit to live and the effect his actions had on others, even if his actions didn’t start out entirely as altruistic. ‘Lars and the Real Girl’ showed Craig’s ability to take offbeat, almost dangerous characters and make you want to bring them home for dinner, and Ryan stirs the deepest emotions with every performance,” he promoted.
