Disney’s October Blu-ray release of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ will use BD-Live to create a new interactive experience. New Blu-ray players can use BD-Live to download additional content of the internet. It will enable the Blu-ray release to adapt to local weather conditions and show customized video messages.
“Sleeping Beauty will revolutionize the way people will interact with and view movies in the home. We pulled out all the stops in launching this technology,” Bob Chapek of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment said.
Disney notes sentiments we saw earlier. Blu-ray is lagging behind expectations and even Blu-ray disc sales are down. They hope these interactive features will generate some positive buzz for the format.
Sony recently released Judd Apatow’s ‘Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story’ as one of the first Blu-rays with BD-Live.
